LOOK FOR ROAD SIGNS

Having a good understanding of road signs and road markings, as explained in the Highway Code, helps with identifying both ends of a one way street.

Your response to one way street markings and signs could be assessed by the examiner on your Module Two motorcycle test.

LISTEN FOR A DIFFERENT INSTRUCTION

When you are approaching the end of the road in a one way street, the examiner will give you a slightly different instruction.

They will tell you to turn at the end of the street and not the end of the road, the end of the road is for approaching a normal T-Junction.

POSITION IN ONE WAY STREETS

When turning left at the end of a one way street, you should use the OSMPSL routine on approach.

It is advisable to follow the kerb line as you would for a normal T-Junction when turning left.

USE THE LEFT HAND LANE

When turning left into a one-way street use the left hand lane on entry but if needed it is acceptable to move straight into the right hand lane.

You could move straight into the right hand lane if there are parked vehicles or other obstructions in the left hand lane.
