You will be required to sign a health declaration that effectively self certifies that you are in good health to take the Module Two motorcycle test. Driving licence holders have a legal obligation to inform the DVLA of certain illnesses and medical conditions that could affect their ability to drive or ride safely. The health declaration ensures that the examiner has clarified this aspect of a motorcycle rider’s legal responsibilities. Apart from your legal responsibilities, common sense dictates that you are in good health and that you take it seriously regarding being on the road.
Eyesight, hearing, balance, judgement, coordination and muscle control, all contribute to you riding safely on a motorcycle. It’s easy to understand how certain illnesses could adversely affect you and other road users, which is why it could result in your driving licence being revoked. Other health considerations include the consumption of alcohol and drugs, which also includes prescription medication. There is a potential for them to negatively impact your ability to ride safely and could harm others on the road.
