MODULE 1 TEST - MANUAL HANDLING & STANDS

For this part of the Module One Test, your motorcycle must be wheeled to the opposite parking area between the other 4 green cones.  You can do this in one of two ways. You can push the bike back in a semi-circle into the other parking area or walk the bike backwards in a straight line, then push the bike forward in a semi-circle, then straight back into the second parking area. Do not rush this exercise. After you have carried out your safety observations. Look in the direction of travel and avoid parking the bike at an awkward angle.  Ensure the side stand is up before moving your bike and properly stowed after the exercise is complete. Use the front brake gently as required to prevent the bike becoming unstable on application.

TO CARRY OUT MANUAL HANDLING

  • Take the bike off stand
  • Hand on back seat and push bike straight backwards
  • Look in direction of travel
  • Use front brake gently to stop the bike
  • Push the bike around in a semicircle
  • Push the bike backwards
  • Ensure bike straight in second parking bay
  • Put the bike onto the side stand
  • Await further instructions
NB. The side stand is easier to use than a centre stand.
