Module 1 Test - Riding The Circuit

There are three Module One test higher speed exercises. You will have to ride the circuit for each of them, they are:  

  1. Controlled Stop
  2. Emergency Stop
  3. Avoidance. 

When riding through the circuit it is imperative to understand what you are trying to achieve.

There is little point just riding through without a methodical process, as this will result in different outcomes every time.

How To Ride The Circuit

The common elements shared by all three Module One riding the circuit exercises are:

  • Select 1st gear
  • Carry out rear observations
  • Ride across the test centre
  • Select 2nd gear as you ride across (max 20 mph)
  • Aim between the red and blue cones
  • Avoid braking in curve (maintain 19 mph)
  • Entering the curve, aim for 1 mtr from red cones
  • Locate the second cone away from the centre red cone 
  • When in position, turn towards blue cones
  • On exit from curve, aim for 1 mtr from blue cones
  • Avoid fixating on cones
  • Look up and ahead
  • Be ready to accelerate 

Riding The Circuit - Speed Requirements

CONTROLLED STOP

In the circuit: 19 mph (30 kph is an *advisory speed requirement)

At the speed camera: No speed requirement

EMERGENCY STOP

In the circuit: 19 mph (30 kph is an *advisory speed requirement)

At the speed camera: 32 mph (50 kph is a *required speed)

AVOIDANCE

In the circuit: 19 mph (30 kph is an *advisory speed requirement)

At the speed camera: 32 mph (50 kph is a *required speed)

*advisory speed requirement: The examiner only has a visual assessment of the speed, as there are no speed cameras to view when you ride the circuit.

*required: This is a required speed, the speed camera in the higher speed exercise records your speed.
