Since its introduction in 1990, the UK has seen huge improvements in motorcycle accident statistics.
Preparing for motorcycle training will be a huge investment prior to turning up on the day.
If you passed a car test before February 2001, you already have AM entitlement to ride a moped but must have category A on your licence to learn to ride a geared bike.
As a new rider, it will be beneficial to you if you do some pre-CBT preparation.
By watching videos, learning the Highway Code and doing some E-learning, it will boost your knowledge prior to undertaking a practical CBT course.
You are required to wear suitable clothing on a motorcycle.
As a minimum requirement you must wear a helmet, thick denim jeans, a suitable jacket, sturdy boots and motorcycle gloves.
Wearing shorts, t-shirts and trainers are not deemed appropriate.
Investing in good motorcycle clothing offers you the best level of protection.
Training schools will usually provide you with a high-viz vest, and some will loan you a helmet, jacket and gloves, but since COVID they may no longer offer this to you, so you should check with them prior to your training day.
If it is found that you are unable to read from this distance you are at risk of having your training terminated, as this would be dangerous for you to ride on the road.
Poor eyesight is generally overlooked, so If you are in any doubt it is recommended that you have an eyesight test prior to your CBT course.
