This is an old favourite, we have been running advanced training trips to the Algarve in Portugal for a number of years and they have always been well attended by club members. They are that good, people return year after year to experience this superb trip.
Our journey starts in Plymouth with a return ferry to Sandander, we make our way over the Cantebrian mountain range and into Portugal. The river Douro that is famous for Portugese wine and port is a must as we meander our way to the jewel in the crown ‘Porto’. After a port tasting evening we head off to Elvas near the Spanish border before making our way to Seville.
A rest day in Seville to have a city break to explore before riding back into Portugal to have a few days in the sun. Take a break on the beach or visit the road that has been nicknamed the ‘helta skelta’, it is a very seldom trodden road and the secret remains ours and our groups while we are there. It is one of the best roads you will find in Portugal.
After a few days our journey heads north through the beautiful Alentejo region before having a couple of days in the Serra de Estrela mountain range to admire the beauty of the area and what it has to offer. Once we have quenched our thirst with exciting mountain passes and views we head back to Santander to catch the ferry home.
